Counselling
Clinical Counselors (Counselors) or Social workers provide the majority of clinical counseling in Ontario. Individual counseling consists of a working and collaborative relationship between therapist and client in order to explore and manage the issues that are occurring in a person's life. The main goal for therapy is for clients to work towards a place of personal growth, effectiveness, life transformation and improved mental health.
Couple therapy is a means of resolving problems and conflicts that couples have not been able to handle effectively on their own. It involves both partners sitting down with a trained professional such as a counselor to discuss their thoughts and feelings. The aim is to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and their partner, to decide if they need and want to make changes, and if so, to help them to do so.
Family counselling is a type of counselling (psychotherapy) that helps family members improve communication, resolve conflicts and achieve increased stability. Counselling services at Northwoods Heath Centre are currently unavailable.
