Clinical Counselors (Counselors) or Social workers provide the majority of clinical counseling in Ontario. Individual counseling consists of a working and collaborative relationship between therapist and client in order to explore and manage the issues that are occurring in a person's life. The main goal for therapy is for clients to work towards a place of personal growth, effectiveness, life transformation and improved mental health.

Couple therapy is a means of resolving problems and conflicts that couples have not been able to handle effectively on their own. It involves both partners sitting down with a trained professional such as a counselor to discuss their thoughts and feelings. The aim is to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and their partner, to decide if they need and want to make changes, and if so, to help them to do so.

Family counselling is a type of counselling (psychotherapy) that helps family members improve communication, resolve conflicts and achieve increased stability.  Counselling services at Northwoods Heath Centre are performed by Maria Drohan Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist.
